What really is compelling?

That's not the kind of word you should put in a field trip policy for schools to follow. I don't think the reasons for the three women in the communciations part of the school board not to send us to the Gator Bowl were the right reasons. No compelling reason for us to go? How about that we get to play with 2000 other kids from across the nation? Or that all of our hard work gets to show in such a well known event? It's not during school time, we're not taking the school districts money, and as far as I'm aware, we never have asked for it. We fundraise, but we give stuff back to the community, it's not like we're just begging for money. We sell pies, fruits, and much more!

If I ever hear the word compelling used for something like that again, I'll probably burst.

Our band had the opprotunity to play in the halftime show for the gator bowl (we'd be there the last few days of 2005 and the first few of 2006) but we were turned down because three women on the board couldn't find "compelling" reason. My opinions are what follows.

 Submit it to the paper, we know we're above that "god"-forsaken school board!

Lol. :). I dunno if I should send it or not though, because it's pretty much all been said already.
:iconoceantwilight:
Oh yeah, and did you read that guys letter in the paper today, the one titled "Sorry, Band, You're Too Good"? that was amazing
:iconalakatarie:
Doesn't matter how many times its been said, the more people explain the more dedicated me are seen as. Yeah, that was a good article. I can't wait to watch the thing on tonight's news. I'm recording though, it's on too late.

Hmmm, true, we do have to drill these things into peoples skulls. Hope you like the interview. (You're right, I do look depressed)
:iconalakatarie:
It was pretty interesting, I bet people will be mad about it though, some people didn't think we should've gone to tv about it.

Yeah, but oh well. They can just kiss our butts lol. No just kidding, I know it seems kind of extreme, but the band's been getting a lot of publicity, so that could be good:) lol
:iconalakatarie:
yeah, publicity is good for things like bands, even if it's we're going to kill the school board publicity.
